From hydrological catchments on land, through interactions in the coastal subsystem of the land-sea nexus, to the whole Baltic Sea Region System, BALSYS quantitatively links scenarios of changes in climate, land-use and water-use with physical, water quality and biogeochemical water change processes as basis for identifying opportunities and barriers for efficient change control over a 30-year horizon.
